Back | Next 18 September 2000 09:01 AM My jar of stickbugs, freshly fed and watered. I have four bugs left from a previous hatch of twenty eight eggs that all came from a single isolated insect. How'd that happen you ask? They're parthenogenic. Basically, the female of the species can reproduce without any help from a male, thank you very much. When they get to be about nine months old, they start laying between thirty and fifty eggs before the die. I'll probably need a bigger jar. |
